Mini Reviewers take on….’You Are (Not) Small’

you are not small

Details:

You Are (Not) Small

Author: Anna Kang

Illustrator: Christopher Weyant

The blurb:
‘ Two fuzzy creatures can’t agree on who is small and who is big, until a couple of surprise guests show up, settling it once and for all!

An original and very funny story about size – it all depends on who’s standing next to you!’

My Mini Reviewers:

Our little panel of reviewers comprises the following:
Mr 6: an avid reader with an enormous imagination.

Miss 5: a beginner reader with a taste for the dramatic.

Mr 4: loves being read to – the sillier, the better.

In the interests of full disclosure, I feel it is necessary to advise that our panel of mini-reviewers are being paid for their time in chocolate. (To be fair, their mama works for less)

The result:

(marks on a scale of 1-10, 1 being the worst book we’ve ever read, 10 being the best)

Mr 4 says… 5/10 “I love it. I loved the big toes. That’s all.” (We’ll cut him some slack…it was his first book review and I think the pressure was getting to him a little. Call it performance anxiety)

Miss 5 says… 9/10 “I didn’t like it, I LOVED it. So much”

Mr 6 says … 8/10 “I liked it. It was good. The pictures were funny and I like the story” (He and I actually led into a really interesting conversation on size and perception from here, but it’s far too convoluted to transcribe. Suffice it to say, it’s always great when a story book can be applied to real life situations!)

Mama’s opinion … a really sweet little story – easy to read out loud and not at all annoying upon repetition!
