I’m taking part in a blog challenge to blog each day in May – it’s a huge undertaking for me, but I’m excited about it. (Although I must be honest here and admit that I’m writing this on the 2nd of May – I’m already behind! Obviously rocking it already!)
Our first challenge topic is core values. Nice and easy to start with, natch. Not. Seriously – have you ever sat down and actually nutted out your core values? I thought I knew myself pretty well, but this is one of those exercises that got me really thinking.
Here’s what I came up with though….
First and foremost, my family is my priority. I’d be nothing without them, and (as every mother knows), nothing would run as smoothly without me. My extended family is just as important, and I also have friends that I count as family and they are included in this. Family first, always.
Honest and Integrity
When it comes down to it, you are only as good as your word. If I say something, I mean it. I’m pretty up front, and not afraid to speak my mind. If I like you, you’ll know it. If I don’t like you, I won’t waste either of our time pretending. Life is too short to spend with people you don’t get along with.
I may not agree with your opinion or way of life, but I absolutely believe that you 100% deserve my respect as a person. There are very few people I don’t respect on some level, but I believe that every one deserves fundamental respect as a human being.
Those are the big three – there are several more including kindness, humour, open-mindedness and loyalty.
What are your core values? Have you ever consciously thought about it?
